For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that our youth, health, wealth, free time, and life are gifts from Allah, and our opportunities to use them can change. The khateeb encouraged us to use these blessings while we have them, especially by building good habits when we are young. He compared good deeds to a lasting currency, naming charity, teaching, helping, and serving others as ways to prepare for the next life. He also reminded us that we always need Allah, even when we feel capable and secure. We can put this reminder into practice by choosing something good to do today instead of putting it off without a reason.

  1. What is one blessing you enjoyed today, and how could you use it to help someone?
  2. What good habit would you like to start growing while you are young?
  3. What kind thing have you been putting off that you could begin today?
