For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that dua is a way to worship Allah, seek His help, and remember how much we need Him. We can turn to Allah about everyday needs as well as deep worries, just as Prophet Yaqub brought his sadness to Him. He explained that no dua is wasted: Allah may grant what we ask, give something greater in the Hereafter, or protect us from an affliction. He encouraged us to make dua a daily habit, perhaps by spending a little longer in sujood or repeating familiar duas after prayer. Above all, he reminded us that being able to call on Allah is itself a great blessing and a remedy for the heart.

  1. What small thing in your day would you like to ask Allah for help with?
  2. What could help you remember to make dua every day?
  3. What do you think it means that calling on Allah is itself a blessing?
