For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah explained that iman is rooted in the heart but should also appear in our actions. A believer trusts Allah, responds to the Qur’an, establishes prayer, gives from what Allah has provided, and avoids sinful behavior. The speaker reminded us that faith has many branches, from affirming Allah’s oneness to removing something harmful from the street and practicing modesty. He also warned that a person can arrive with many good deeds yet lose them by backbiting and taking others’ property. This week, let’s strengthen our faith through worship and make it visible by protecting people from harm and making amends when we wrong them.

  1. What is one small helpful action you can do this week that nobody may notice?
  2. How can we protect our words from backbiting?
  3. What does trusting Allah look like when life goes up and down?
