True reform begins at home

“Why are we not learning Quran?”

The khateeb, at 1:40

True reform begins with sincere obedience to Allah and the Prophet’s Sunnah in one’s own life and household, especially through prayer, remembrance, learning from mistakes, and modeling righteousness.

The khutbah reminds us that our words should match our actions, especially when we guide our children and families. We should not expect our children to love the Quran, prayer, and Sunnah while neglecting these things ourselves. Real change begins by seeking Allah’s pleasure, remembering Him often, and building righteousness within ourselves and our homes. The khateeb also teaches that believers learn from painful experiences instead of repeatedly making the same choices. When we hold firmly to the Quran and Sunnah, they give us light to recognize danger, make wiser decisions, and care for our wider community.

  1. What is one good habit you would like our whole family to practice together?
  2. What is one mistake that taught you something useful?
  3. How can remembering Allah help you make a difficult choice?
