Sincere intention matters more than status
The khutbah argues that sincere intention and a sound, God-conscious heart matter more than outward status, and should shape how Muslims worship, attend Jumu'ah, and use their faculties.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Defines sincerity as doing every act, including spending, solely for Allah and according to intention.
- Describes a sound heart as one that remembers Allah, wishes good for others, and avoids jealousy and unlawful desire.
- Warns that scholars, donors, and martyrs can be punished when impressive deeds are pursued for fame.
- Applies sincerity to attending the masjid: arrive early, listen quietly, and follow the imam precisely.
- Explains gratitude through lawful use of the eyes, ears, tongue, hands, and feet.
- Closes with a request for dua for the deceased Shaykh Hazrat Pir Zulfiqar Sahib and general supplications.
In the khateeb's words
“So spend only to please Allah . Just for pleasure of Allah , rather you're spending your wealth, your time, anything you're spending. So just Do it for sake of Allah .”
“But if we spend that much time on our heart, we become Waliullah.”
“So even the actions are very small, but in the sight of Allah they are very very powerful.”
“Everyone has a guarantee for death, right? No guarantee for life.”
For the dinner table
The khutbah teaches that Allah values the sincerity behind our actions, not our appearance, wealth, or status. A sound heart remembers Allah, wishes good for others, and avoids jealousy, unlawful desire, and heedlessness. The imam urged us to renew our intention before coming to the masjid, arrive early for Jumu'ah, listen quietly, and follow the imam carefully. He also connected gratitude to how we use our eyes, ears, tongue, hands, and feet. The sermon ended with a request to make dua for Shaykh Hazrat Pir Zulfiqar Sahib and for the wider Muslim community.
- What is one everyday action you can do with a better intention?
- Which part of your body can you use more gratefully this week?
- How can we help one another listen and pray attentively at Jumu'ah?
