How to honor the Quran daily
“Quran is the only book in the world that people read without understanding.”
Muslims must honor the Qur'an through five rights, believing, reciting, understanding, practicing, and teaching it, beginning within the family to build a Qur'anic generation.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Marriage and parenting are presented as the foundation for a Qur'anic generation.
- The khutbah introduces five rights of the Qur'an as Ramadan approaches.
- Belief in the Qur'an means accepting its commands about halal and haram.
- Recitation requires effort, correct pronunciation, and learning tajweed.
- Understanding and practicing the Qur'an make it a daily guide and cure.
- Teaching family members, attending the mosque, and serving the community extend the Qur'anic legacy.
In the khateeb's words
“Believing in the Qur'an means Whatever Qur'an makes halal That is halal And whatever Qur'an makes haram That is haram”
“Quran is the only book in the world That people read Without understanding”
“So this Quran has to be right Next to your bed On your side table So you can see it every day”
“Pray one salah In the masjid every day With your family This will Be your legacy”
For the dinner table
The khateeb described five responsibilities toward the Qur’an: believing in it, reciting it, understanding it, practicing it, and sharing its message. He reminded us that belief should shape our choices, including being honest when dishonesty seems profitable. He encouraged those who struggle with recitation, explaining that their effort also brings reward. Like a prescription that needs to be followed, the Qur’an calls us to act on what we learn. He asked families to build a lasting legacy by making the Qur’an part of everyday life, teaching their children, and coming to the masjid together.
- How could we encourage each other when reading the Qur’an feels difficult?
- When could our family spend a little time reading and learning the Qur’an together?
