The khutbah taught that Islam asks us to live a balanced life. We should work, earn lawfully, care for our responsibilities, and enjoy permissible blessings, but we should not let the temporary world control our hearts. Our real race is toward forgiveness, paradise, and closeness to Allah. The khateeb encouraged us to put worship first, including praying Fajr on time and staying connected to the masjid. He also remembered a longtime mosque caller to prayer who died on a Friday in the mosque and prayed for Allah's mercy upon him.
