For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that the Day of Judgment will be difficult, but Allah promises special shade to seven kinds of people. They include those who lead justly, young people who grow up worshipping Allah, people attached to the masjid, friends who love one another for Allah's sake, those who resist temptation, those who give charity secretly, and those who remember Allah privately with tears. The common thread is sincere choices that go against selfish habits and are made because Allah is watching. We can begin by being fair in our responsibilities, choosing good friends, coming to the masjid prepared and early, protecting our deeds from showing off, and turning back to Allah when we slip.

  1. Where do you have a chance to practice justice this week?
  2. What helps you choose friends who strengthen your faith?
  3. What is one way our family can become more connected to the masjid?
