True success requires prayer and purposeful time
In one sentence
True success belongs to believers who willingly submit to Allah by praying with khushu and guarding their time and senses from useless distractions.
The khutbah in 7 steps
- Gratitude for the gifts of Jumu'ah and iman
- The heavens and earth submitted willingly to Allah, and believers must do the same
- What we consume through our senses shapes our thoughts, actions, and character
- The first trait of successful believers: khushu, humble, calm concentration in prayer
- The second trait: turning away from laghu and idle distractions, especially social media
- Health and free time are great blessings that people are cheated out of
- Closing dua asking Allah to make the congregation people of true iman, khushu, and purposeful time
Try this week
Pray with calm, humble concentration rather than on autopilot
Guard what you watch, listen to, and consume because it shapes your thoughts and character
Turn away from useless and idle media, especially social media that desensitizes you to sin
Use your health and free time for beneficial pursuits in this world and the next
Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“if you look at this and you think about it that this inanimate creation the heavens and the earth they recognize the oneness of Allah”
“two blessings that are huge and great but many people get cheated out in they get deceived in them they get the short end of the stick with them what are these health and having free time”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
The khateeb reminded us that iman, Islam, and the ability to attend Jumu'ah are gifts from Allah. Being Muslim means trying to submit willingly to Allah, even though we sometimes make mistakes. What we watch, hear, and consume shapes our thoughts, habits, and character, so believers should choose beneficial influences. Successful believers pray with khushu and turn away from useless activities. Our health and free time are precious blessings, and we should use them in ways that benefit this life and the next.
- What is one thing you can do to make your next salah more focused?
- What is one activity or type of content you could reduce because it does not benefit you?
- How could you use some free time this week for something Allah loves?
