Use your blessings before they disappear

“When we count our blessings, when we are appreciative of our blessings, this is when we are rich.”

The khateeb, at 42:16

In one sentence

Believers should cultivate gratitude by using their youth, health, wealth, free time, and life for Allah before those blessings are lost, rather than letting comparison and distraction make them feel deprived.

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminds us that Allah has already surrounded us with blessings such as health, family, provision, faith, and ordinary daily abilities. Constant comparison, especially through social media, can make us overlook those gifts and feel poor even when we have much. The Prophet’s advice is to value five blessings before they disappear: youth, health, wealth, free time, and life. We should use them now for worship, learning, moderate spending, service, and other acts that please Allah. Gratitude brings contentment, so our family can practice noticing blessings and saying Alhamdulillah sincerely.

  1. Which blessing in your life do you notice most often, and which one do you overlook?
  2. How can we show gratitude for our health or free time today?
