In the khateeb's words
“According to this beautiful ayah, the whole reason Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala created spouses was so that you can find somebody you can have peace and security.”
“That's something that you got to work at. That's something you got to struggle for. That's something that means that you're probably not always going to be his friend, but you're always going to be his father or his mother.”
“I don't want to be the only one with this blessing.”
“Prophet Ibrahim's life was marked with unwavering faith and a profound concern for family and community.”
For the dinner table
Imam Ahmad Shaheed reflected on Prophet Ibrahim’s faith and his care for his spouse, children, and wider community as sources of peace and happiness. He reminded us that trust within a family takes effort, and that appreciation should show up in practical ways, like sharing household work and making time for one another to worship. He encouraged supporting young people as they build habits of prayer, reading, and good deeds during Ramadan that can continue throughout the year. He also explained that we can benefit children beyond our own families by teaching, encouraging, and showing up for them. Through prayer and righteous actions, we can ask Allah to help us leave a loving, faithful legacy that continues to benefit others.
- Who did something helpful for our family today, and how could we thank them?
- Which Ramadan habit would you like us to keep practicing together?
