Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Today's khutbah retold the final sermon attributed to Umar ibn Abdulaziz, reminding us that Allah did not create us without purpose. We will all return to Allah, and death can come sooner than we expect, so what matters most is the good we send ahead. The speaker encouraged us to let the Qur'an and Sunnah shape our words and actions, to be conscious of Allah, and to seek His forgiveness. Worldly possessions stay behind, while our deeds accompany us. The closing prayers also remembered Muslims facing hardship in Palestine, Sudan, China, and elsewhere.

  1. What good deed could you send forward this week?
  2. What does living with purpose look like at home?
  3. How can the Qur'an and Sunnah improve the way we speak to one another?
