Make Islam visible through righteous action
“We as Muslims have to continue to engage in the society so that they can get a chance to be exposed to what Mohammed was given to deliver.”
Muslims should make Islam visible through ethical engagement, service, strong institutions, and youth leadership while meeting hardship with patience, prayer, and trust in Allah.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Frames Muslim responsibility around carrying the Prophet’s message through righteous conduct.
- Explains Islam’s spread through migration, trade, families, mosques, and schools rather than military power.
- Urges ethical participation in society, professional life, and civic institutions.
- Highlights youth service, community roles, and building institutions for future generations.
- Encourages patience, prayer, Qur’an, and reliance on Allah during illness, grief, and hardship.
- Closes with supplications, prayer, and announcements about mosque support and projects.
In the khateeb's words
“so we as Muslims have to continue to engage in the society so that they can get a chance to be exposed to what Mohammed was given to deliver”
“we know that Allah doesn't look and care about what we say with our tongues but what we do what works do we do good works righteous works”
“we have to look at the next 50 years what we going to leave with them that they can be able to inshallah continue to build upon”
“with our words and with our presence and with the family members to know that they're not alone but we can change some realities”
For the dinner table
Imam Abdul-Hafiz reminded us that Muslims can represent Islam through honest work, service, and kindness in the wider society. He encouraged families to involve young people in community life and help build institutions that will benefit future generations. He also spoke compassionately about illness, grief, and difficult circumstances, reminding us to turn to Allah with patience and prayer. We should support one another with our presence and comforting words. The khutbah ended by encouraging continued care for the mosque and its community work.
- What is one way our family can serve people in our community this week?
- What responsibility would you like to take on at the mosque or in another community project?
- When you feel worried or pressured, what helps you slow down, pray, and make a good choice?
