Faith grows through loving invitation
“Only the greatness and the love of Allah should remain in the heart.”
True faith means internalizing Allah’s greatness, renewing iman together, and sharing it through loving invitation and communal responsibility.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- The greatest blessing is correct faith, and the adhan should awaken awareness of Allah’s greatness.
- The vastness of creation and Jannah illustrates how insignificant worldly concerns are compared with Allah.
- Believers must convey Allahu Akbar to Muslims and non-Muslims and renew faith with one another.
- The ummah’s excellence comes from serving mankind, while the ship parable makes communal responsibility concrete.
- Listeners are urged to join a local weekend gathering and spend time in the mosque.
- The Arabic khutbah recites Surah al-Ghashiyah, followed by announcements about mosque programs and donations.
In the khateeb's words
“Everything should disappear. Only the greatness and the love of Allah should remain in the heart.”
“The heart craves the greatness of Allah. But we have not delivered Allahu Akbar to mankind.”
“The one who makes the hole and the one who doesn't make the hole, if he doesn't stop him, everybody will drown.”
“daily we should make it a point. Go and visit and say, brother, as-salamu alaykum, grab his hand with love and say, my brother, I love you for the sake of Allah.”
For the dinner table
The khutbah taught that iman is Allah’s greatest gift, and that “Allahu Akbar” should mean more than words repeated during the adhan. Remembering Allah’s greatness can make worldly worries feel smaller and turn our hearts toward Him. The speaker said this gift should be shared by renewing faith with one another and lovingly inviting Muslims who are distant from salah or the masjid. He compared the community to a ship, teaching that everyone shares responsibility for stopping harm. He also encouraged families to take part in mosque learning and community programs.
- What do you think about when you hear Allahu Akbar?
- How could we help someone feel welcome at the masjid?
- What is one good mosque activity our family could join?
