For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught that Muslims should not be passive when they see wrongdoing or someone being harmed. Using the Quran’s story of the Sabbath-breakers and the Prophet’s ship parable, the khateeb said we should offer wise advice, redirect harmful conversations, and support people treated unfairly. He reminded us that Allah asks about our effort and responsibility, while results remain in Allah’s control. This week, we can choose one small improvement, such as stopping gossip, standing with someone excluded, or praying and acting for people suffering. The goal is to be among those who help rather than a silent majority.

  1. When have you seen someone left out, and what wise, kind action could you take?
  2. How could you redirect a conversation when people start gossiping?
  3. What is one 1% improvement you want to make this week?
