For the dinner table

Today the imam reminded us that every morning we wake up with new responsibilities: to Allah, to our family, to the people around us, and even as good citizens. He told us that Allah has made us His representatives on earth and is always watching what we do, and that one day He will ask us what we did with our lives. He compared each of us to a farmer who takes care of a plant every day, watering it, protecting it, and cutting away anything harmful, and said we should look after our good deeds the same way. He said the people with no fear and no regrets are those who follow Allah's guidance and stay content with His decision, whether life goes the way they want or not. He also reminded us to do good things for the sake of Allah, not to please other people, and that we change the world by first changing ourselves.

  1. If your good deeds were a garden, what is one thing you could 'water' tomorrow to help it grow?
  2. When something doesn't go the way you wanted, what can you say or do to remember that Allah knows best?
  3. What is one good thing you did today that you could do only for Allah, even if nobody else noticed?
