Prepare now for death and the hereafter

“If you do good, you do good for your own self.”

The khateeb, at 23:33

Because death is certain, unpredictable, and unaffected by age or status, believers should repent, do good, and prepare now to meet Allah with a good ending.

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminds us that death can come at any age and without warning, and no family member, doctor, wealth, or position can stop it. Our homes, cars, money, and businesses are temporary, while our faith, repentance, and good deeds are what matter when we meet Allah. The speaker urged us to return to Allah now and repair our relationship with Him instead of waiting for old age. He asked us to repeat the dua 'Allahumma ahsin aqibati fil umuri kulliha' and hope for a final word of la ilaha illallah.

  1. What is one good deed you would like to start this week?
  2. What things do we have that will not stay with us forever?
  3. What does asking Allah for a good ending mean to you?
