Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Allah has given us homes as places of shelter, rest, and privacy, and we should be grateful for that blessing. Peace does not come mainly from expensive furniture or modern comforts; it grows when a home is filled with Allah’s remembrance, prayer, learning, obedience, and avoiding what is forbidden. The Prophet compared a home where Allah is remembered with a living home, and one without remembrance with a dead home. Family peace also needs understanding, conversation, cooperation, and consultation. Parents should set aside petty arguments and worldly pride when those conflicts harm their children’s religious, emotional, and mental wellbeing.

  2. How can we use better conversation when someone in the family is upset?
  3. How should being grateful for our home affect how we think about families without shelter?
