Jannah is worth every sacrifice
“If we want to aim for the jannah that Allah created for us, take advantage of two things.”
The khutbah argues that Jannah is worth every worldly sacrifice, so believers should use their health and free time wisely while remaining committed to faith and righteous action.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Begins with gratitude and prayers for Muslims suffering worldwide, urging remembrance and advocacy.
- Narrates the hadith of the last person leaving Hell and entering Jannah to emphasize its unimaginable reward.
- Applies Jannah’s promise to prayer, charity, forgiveness, abandoning sin, and preserving faith.
- Explains that health and free time are blessings usable for obedience or disobedience.
- Contrasts wasted modern time with productive early hours and examples from renowned scholars.
- Closes with the advice to take advantage of youth, health, wealth, free time, and life before they pass.
In the khateeb's words
“But the least we can do. Is not forget them. So let's all agree. Not just Fridays. But whenever you get an opportunity. Remember them in your dua.”
“If we want to aim for the jannah that Allah created for us, take advantage of two things. Your health and your free time.”
For the dinner table
The khateeb reminded us to thank Allah for our blessings and keep suffering Muslims in our prayers, advocacy, and family conversations. He shared the story of the last person entering Jannah to help us appreciate Allah's generosity and look forward to what He has prepared. That hope can encourage us to forgive, turn away from sin, and keep doing good when life is difficult. He explained that people can excel in different good deeds, including prayer, caring for parents, and giving charity. He especially encouraged us to value our health and free time, learn from older people, and use today's opportunities to grow closer to Allah.
- Who could we remember in our dua tonight, and what could we ask Allah to grant them?
- What is one good thing you could make time for this week?
- What would you like to ask an older person about when they were your age?
