Islam must shape every part of life

“We cannot just take what we like and leave the rest.”

The khateeb, at 4:37

In one sentence

Islam must be practiced as a complete way of life, encompassing belief, worship, lawful conduct, and ethical treatment of everyone.

Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that Islam is meant to shape our whole day, not only prayer or special seasons. Belief, worship, halal and haram, and good character all belong together. A person cannot claim devotion while harming neighbors, abusing family, taking unfairly, or doing what Allah forbids. We should treat every neighbor with care, regardless of religion, and let our actions show what we believe. This week, we can notice one area where our actions need to better match our faith.

  1. What is one small part of daily life where you can show good akhlaq?
  2. How can we help a neighbor without first asking whether they are Muslim?
  3. What does it mean to follow Islam completely at school, home, or with friends?
