For the dinner table

Imam Arshad encouraged us to work toward closeness to Allah by making an extra effort, even when we are not perfect. He reminded us that health and free time are blessings we can use for worship and other beneficial things. Gratitude means recognizing what Allah has given us, thanking Him, and using those gifts in ways that please Him. Each of us has a next step, whether that means strengthening our daily prayers, learning more about our deen, or adding extra acts of worship and charity. Through examples of forgiveness and controlling anger, he reminded us that growing closer to Allah also involves choosing how we treat people when it is difficult.

  1. What is one blessing you enjoyed today, and how could you use it to please Allah?
  2. What small extra effort could you make this week in prayer, learning, or helping someone?
  3. When you feel angry, what helps you pause and choose your next words?
