For the dinner table

Today's khutbah teaches that Allah created human differences so we can know one another, build bridges, and cooperate. We should trust that Allah provides for every creature while still working and doing our part. Faith also means honoring parents and relatives and treating Muslim and non-Muslim neighbors and friends with kindness. The imam held up Prophet Yusuf as an example of someone whose mercy was visible even among people of another faith. We can live this message by praying for others, welcoming guests at community events, and serving everyone with respect.

  1. Who is someone different from you that you could get to know better?
  2. What is one kind thing you could do for a neighbor this week?
  3. What character trait would you want people to see in you?
