For the dinner table

The khutbah says our purpose is to worship God, but worship is bigger than prayer and fasting. Caring for family and parents, working honestly, studying, and helping people can all be worship when done for God. We are urged to keep searching for truth, follow it when we recognize it, and stand up for truth and justice. Imam Ali’s advice is to guard our eyes and ears from distractions and not let other people’s blessings make us miserable. Instead, notice what God has already given us, stay grateful, and build our own families and lives.

  1. What is one everyday task you could turn into worship through your intention?
  2. What helps you remember your own blessings when you start comparing yourself with others?
  3. How can our family stand for truth and justice this week?
