Every believer strengthens the ummah
Muslims strengthen the ummah and become a leading, beneficial community by uniting, helping everyone, mentoring younger generations, and excelling in their professions with trust in Allah’s promised victory.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Leadership begins by mentoring younger generations and helping people regardless of background.
- The ummah’s unity is illustrated through believers strengthening one another like parts of a building.
- Youth are urged to reject wasted time, pursue excellence, and become leaders in their professions.
- Listeners are called to dismiss minor conflicts and hold firmly together.
- The Hijrah and Suraqa’s promised bracelets of Kisra illustrate certainty, patience, and action before results appear.
- The khutbah closes with calls for unity, mutual support, and prayers for Islam and the Hereafter.
In the khateeb's words
“By helping everyone. Irrespective of the background. You help everyone. You become the natural leader. And leadership. Is about actions. Not really positions.”
“So think of yourself as a brick. In this structure. As a unit. Of this building.”
“Don't waste your time. In worthless stuff. Just try to think of yourself. As the one who is giving victory to this nation.”
“And the best of these actions is to unite together. Dismiss all conflicts. Be the strong believer. Be strong in your profession. Support one another.”
For the dinner table
The khateeb taught that real leadership is shown through helping others, not through holding a title. Muslims become stronger when they unite, forgive minor conflicts, and support one another like parts of a building. He especially encouraged young people to use their time well, become excellent in their professions, and mentor those coming after them. The story of the Hijrah and Suraqa’s promised bracelets reminded us that Allah’s promises may take time, so we should remain certain and keep acting. Our family can help build a stronger ummah through service, unity, and encouragement.
- Where could you help someone this week without caring about their background?
- What is one skill you could develop to serve your community better?
- How can our family handle a minor conflict in a more united way?
