For the dinner table

The khutbah says life is a test of how we see reality. We should recognize that Allah is behind every benefit, difficulty, and worldly cause, while still using those causes responsibly. This means leaving work for prayer, conducting business honestly and gently, and training the heart to choose Allah’s guidance over its desires. When faith and deeds improve, the speaker says Allah promises a wholesome life, provision, ease, forgiveness, and blessings. The family can discuss how to rely on Allah more while carrying out everyday responsibilities.

  1. Where do we need to use a worldly means while trusting Allah instead of the means itself?
  2. How can our work or school responsibilities become acts of obedience?
  3. What desire is hardest to replace with Allah’s guidance?
