Today’s khutbah explained that one of the main threads in Surah al-Baqarah is complete submission to Allah. The speaker contrasted the angels’ immediate obedience and Iblis’s arrogance with Bani Israel’s delays and questions, then presented Ibrahim and his family as examples of trusting Allah without hesitation. He connected that same submission to the changing of the qiblah and to the believer’s response of hearing and obeying with humility. He also encouraged us to understand the Quran through each surah’s central theme and to explain Islam as a complete way of life, not only private rituals.

  1. When is it easy or difficult for us to obey without delaying?
  2. What can we learn from Ibrahim’s family about trusting Allah?
  3. How would you explain the meaning of deen to a friend?
