Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“The final moments are not just moments of physical pain as we transition from this life to the next. They are the moments that define what kind of a person you were in this life.”
“If you are as much as a foot away from hellfire, never despair from the Rahmah of Allah Azza wa Jal.”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
The khutbah reminded us that death is a real transition into the next life, and our final state reflects how we lived. Allah may give a sincere servant a final opportunity to worship, repent, reconcile, or help others. Family and wealth eventually leave us, but our deeds remain with us. Even someone who has sinned should never despair of Allah’s mercy, while someone who appears righteous must still guard against hypocrisy and arrogance. We should therefore seek sincerity, goodness, forgiveness, and a faithful ending.
- What is one good deed you would like your ending to reflect?
- How can our family practice reconciliation and goodness this week?
- What does sincerity look like when nobody else is watching?
