For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that Islam begins with a heart that lovingly surrenders to Allah, and that this surrender shapes our actions. Our words, abilities, and power should help keep others safe from harm. Wealth and status can mislead us if we assume they make us special with Allah. He encouraged us to keep Allah and the hereafter at the center of our concerns, and to hold possessions without letting them control our hearts. He ended by asking Allah to help us understand deeply, recognize truth, and follow it through prayer and effort.
