Trade temporary comfort for eternal reward

“You are exchanging something temporary for something eternal and this is the best trade.”

The khateeb, at 16:37

In one sentence

Because the dunya is temporary and the Akhirah is eternal, believers should accept disciplined effort and sacrifice now, especially in worship, so they can enjoy its results later.

For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that the effort we make today can become something we are grateful for later, especially when we meet Allah. Like studying regularly or shoveling snow the night before, preparing now can help us later. The rewards of worship may not be visible right away, but we worship Allah out of love, gratitude, and recognition that He deserves our worship. He encouraged us to picture our future, break big goals into small steps, and use our health and opportunities while we have them. He also reminded us that good friends and time at the masjid can inspire us to do more good, and he prayed that Allah would accept our efforts and forgive our shortcomings.
