For the dinner table

The khutbah teaches that Allah should come first in our hearts and choices. When we are considering something, we can pray two rak'ahs if able and make istikhara, asking Allah to make the good easy and turn us away from harm. Istikhara does not require a dream; ease, an opening, or a closed door may all be part of the answer. We should keep making effort while accepting Allah’s decree with trust, because His knowledge is greater than ours. This contentment is part of real faith and can give the heart strength.

  1. What is one decision where you would want to ask Allah for guidance?
  2. How can we respond when something we hoped for does not work out?
  3. What does it mean to keep trying while trusting Allah’s decree?
