Ask Allah not to leave you alone

“We are all beggars, we are all slaves in desperate need for the rahmah and the mercy of Allah.”

The khateeb, at 18:38

True success, confidence, and protection from arrogance come only through Allah’s mercy and continual reliance, so believers should ask not to be left to themselves even for a blink.

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that we need Allah’s mercy and help every day, even when life is going well. The khateeb shared a dua in which the Prophet asks for Allah’s mercy, asks not to be left to himself even for a blink of an eye, and asks Allah to set all his affairs right. He explained that our confidence should begin with trust in Allah, remembering that our abilities and strengths depend on Him. He encouraged us to stay humble through success and keep our hearts connected to Allah through difficulty. As a family, we can learn this dua and remember to ask Allah for help with both our everyday concerns and our biggest hopes.
