Be a benefit, not a burden

“When your community needs you, when your neighbor needs you, do you extend your hands, do you help them?”

The khateeb, at 10:49

Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

The khutbah asks us to think about what kind of mark our lives leave behind. A believer should be someone whose presence benefits family, neighbors, and the wider community, not someone from whom others hope to be relieved. The speaker points to the ant’s care for its colony and preparation for winter as examples of teamwork, responsibility, and planning. We should save during ease, protect our time from distractions, worship Allah, and respond when our community or neighbors need help.

  1. How can we make our home and neighborhood better through one helpful action this week?
  2. What is something our family should prepare for while things are going well?
