Build unity by supporting one another

“We want everybody to make it to the finish line.”

The khateeb, at 27:16

For the dinner table

Allah wants us to be like bricks in a strong building, supporting one another instead of tearing one another down. The Sahaba showed this by defending people, remembering their good qualities, forgiving wrongs, and reconciling disputes. The khutbah reminds us to avoid gossip, suspicion, insults, and backbiting because these weaken the Muslim community. We should forgive before sleeping and remove ill will from our hearts. Even when Muslims compete, we should help everyone reach the finish line together.

  1. Who has been a supporting brick for you recently, and how could you support someone else?
  2. What is one hurt or grudge you could begin releasing before bedtime?
  3. How can our family help someone who is struggling instead of criticizing them?
