The amanah calls us to serve the vulnerable

“Our purpose is to serve and to benefit others.”

The khateeb, at 17:40

Because human beings accepted the amanah, the trust to serve Allah and care for others, we must respond to a troubled world through prayer, charity, and practical mercy, especially toward the vulnerable.

For the dinner table

The khutbah teaches that every person carries an amanah, a trust from Allah to worship Him and care for other people. When the world feels broken, that responsibility can still be lived through mercy and service, even in small ways. The Prophet cared about children’s private grief, and Umar personally helped a hungry family, showing that leadership means noticing people others might overlook. We can begin by praying, giving charity, volunteering at the masjid, welcoming children, and helping vulnerable neighbors.

  1. What responsibility do you feel you are carrying right now?
  2. Who might be feeling overlooked, and how could we notice them?
