Gaza calls believers to patience and action

“When you are in peace with Allah, that's all you need. You do not need anything else.”

The khateeb, at 18:06

In one sentence

The suffering in Gaza should teach believers patience, trust in Allah, spiritual connection, and responsible action through dua, lawful advocacy, and steady effort.

The khutbah in 6 steps

  1. Frames Gaza as a lesson in fiqh al-awlawiyyat (priorities), patience, tolerance, and persistence.
  2. Uses Surah al-Ankabut to argue that believers are tested and that Gaza has exposed moral truth.
  3. Calls for dua, lawful civic speech, informed advocacy, demonstrations, petitions, and spreading awareness.
  4. Applies the lesson personally: take practical means in hardship, then accept Allah's decree with rida and tawakkul.
  5. Uses stories of Zakariya, Maryam, and Musa with al-Khidr to show divine power and limited human understanding.
  6. Closes by urging timely salah, dhikr, Quran, family teaching about Al-Aqsa, and ummah unity.

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah asked us to learn from the patience, faith, and persistence of our brothers and sisters in Gaza. The khateeb reminded us that the Qur’an teaches us how to live and care for others, as well as what to do. He encouraged us to stay close to Allah through prayer, remembrance, and reading the Qur’an, and to keep those who are suffering in our du‘a. He also called us to learn about the situation and speak up peacefully and lawfully for justice. We should do what we can, trust Allah with what is beyond our control, and remember that small efforts repeated over time can make a difference.

  1. Who could we remember in our du‘a tonight, and what could we ask Allah for them?
  2. How could we make time for salah when our day gets busy?
