For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah invited us to slow down and think about Surah Al-Fatiha, which we recite in every prayer. Its opening reminds us who Allah is: our Creator and Sustainer, full of mercy, and the One who will hold us accountable. We worship Him with love, hope, and fear, and we need His help even to do the good things we want to do. When we ask Him for guidance, we are asking for something more important than a bigger house or more money: the path that leads to Him and paradise. The khateeb encouraged us to understand what we recite, reflect on it, and put what we learn into practice so our prayers can have more focus and humility.
