Use Sha'ban to prepare for Ramadan

“Increase your Quran in this month, increase your zikr in this month, increase your salah, increase your charity in this month.”

The khateeb, at 28:09

In one sentence

Because Allah has given every moment a sacred purpose, believers should use Sha'ban for mindful worship, self-accounting, forgiveness, and preparation for Ramadan rather than letting time pass heedlessly.

For the dinner table

Allah has given every part of our lives a purpose, so Sha'ban is not a month to sleep through while waiting for Ramadan. The khateeb encouraged us to notice the good already present in our daily prayers, family responsibilities, remembrance, and service instead of measuring our worth only by public success. He reminded us to prepare by increasing Quran, dhikr, salah, charity, and salawat. We should also work to let go of grudges and remove anything that competes with Allah in our hearts. In this way, we enter Ramadan with cleaner hearts, clearer purpose, and a stronger connection to Allah and His Messenger.

  1. What ordinary part of your day could become an act of worship?
  2. What makes a day meaningful besides public success or recognition?
  3. What is one good habit you can increase before Ramadan?
