For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that life includes difficulties, and believers can respond with patience in hardship and gratitude in happier times. Gratitude begins with noticing our blessings and remembering that they come from Allah, instead of taking them for granted or always comparing ourselves with people who have more. We can thank Allah sincerely and use His gifts well by sharing what we have and being careful with our words, hearing, and sight. We can also enjoy small happy moments without waiting for everything to be perfect, and keep the good habits that brought us closer to Allah during hard times. Being grateful also means using our opportunities to speak up for truth and justice and caring about people who face injustice.

  1. What is one everyday blessing you noticed today that you usually overlook?
  2. How could we share something Allah has given our family this week?
  3. What small happy moment would you like to thank Allah for today?
