For the dinner table

The khutbah asks us to practice islah, meaning repairing relationships and helping people move past conflict. It says our lives are shaped by three relationships: with ourselves, with Allah, and with other people. When families and friends cut one another off, the whole community becomes weaker. We should be people who bring sunshine into a room through patience, care, wisdom, love, and helpful advice. Even a small effort to listen, reconcile, or guide someone away from harm can be valued by Allah.

  1. Who brings sunshine into your family, and what do they do?
  2. What is one small way you could help two people get along this week?
  3. Which relationship needs more care right now: with yourself, Allah, or someone else?
