For the dinner table

At the turn of the year, the khateeb invited us to pause, take account of ourselves, and recalibrate as believers. He encouraged us to look for Allah’s goodness even in inconvenience, practice gratitude, and resist constant complaining. He also urged families to put away distractions, especially phones, so we can be present and protect our focus in salah. We should empty our hearts of envy, pray the five daily prayers on time, ask for reasonable space to pray, and improve our concentration by varying Quran recitation. The goal is to make gratitude, attention, contentment, and prayer central habits as Ramadan approaches.

  1. What is one difficult thing where you might look for a hidden blessing?
  2. What phone-free time would help our family talk and listen better?
  3. What can help you make salah more focused and meaningful?
