Use every blessing to please Allah
“When you have that energy, use that energy.”
The khutbah teaches believers to strive beyond the minimum in worship, follow the Prophet's example, and express gratitude by using Allah's blessings in ways that please Him while respecting personal limits.
The khutbah in 5 steps
- Aim higher than the minimum in good deeds and worship.
- Practice mujahada by striving according to one's energy and limits.
- Use the Prophet's exceptional night prayer as the highest example.
- Understand gratitude as action, using blessings to please Allah.
- Seek prayer as a source of rest, joy, and spiritual renewal.
In the khateeb's words
“When you have that energy, use that energy. It's very important. But when you are having not the good feeling, then yes, that time do not make it hard for yourself.”
“And the best way to thank Allah about any blessing, to use that blessing in a way pleasing Him.”
“He still have time and he still have energy to stand in a prayer at night when nobody's around.”
For the dinner table
Today's khutbah reminded us that worship is a journey of striving, not a contest of pretending to be perfect. We should keep the essentials steady and build beyond them when we have energy, while giving ourselves appropriate rest when we are tired. The Prophet Muhammad was presented as our highest example, especially in his long night prayers and his gratitude to Allah. Real gratitude means using our money, health, and other blessings in ways that please Allah. The goal is to grow until prayer becomes a source of peace and joy.
- What is one blessing you can use this week in a way that pleases Allah?
- When do you feel most ready to do extra good deeds?
- What could make prayer feel more peaceful or joyful for you?
