For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that many ordinary things, food, shelter, health, transportation, safety, and family, are gifts from Allah. We often stop noticing these blessings when they become familiar or when we compare ourselves with people who have more. Gratitude means recognizing Allah's gifts in our hearts, saying thanks with our tongues, and using what we have in ways that please Him. We can strengthen gratitude by helping people who are sick, elderly, hungry, or displaced. This week, our family can practice noticing blessings and responding with both Alhamdulillah and helpful action.

  1. What is one everyday blessing you noticed today that you usually overlook?
  2. How could we show gratitude with our actions this week?
  3. Who could our family help so we remember blessings like health, food, and shelter?
