Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“the best among you is the one who is benefiting others”
“being arrogant being hearty does not give us any benefit rather it owns the wrath of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala”
“the time is nearing the hour is nearing and we don't know you don't know I don't know when another time comes”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
The khutbah reminds us that Allah created people to worship Him, while all of creation belongs to Him and submits to His command. Our choices do not affect only ourselves: sinful behavior can harm the world around us, while righteousness brings blessing. The speaker asks us to avoid arrogance, follow the Quran and the Prophet’s guidance, and benefit other people. Since we do not know how much time remains, we should use our time for obedience, good deeds, and seeking Allah’s mercy.
- What is one way our actions can help people or other living things?
- How can we practice humility when we think we know best?
- What good deed can we make time for before next Jumu’ah?
