For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us to thank Allah for the blessing of Jumu’ah and the opportunities He gives us. The khateeb spoke about the Day of Judgment and urged us to take accountability seriously instead of assuming we have plenty of time. He encouraged us to read the Quran with our hearts and minds engaged, and to show beautiful patience when others provoke us. He reminded us that although our obedience can go up and down, we should keep making an effort to improve. We can begin today by caring for our prayers, being good to our parents, repairing family relationships, and following the Prophet’s example.

  1. What is one blessing you want to thank Allah for today?
  2. When someone annoys you, what could beautiful patience look like?
