Seven ways to earn Allah’s shade
“The person who helps out his brother in difficulty, Allah will help him on the Day of Qiyamah.”
The khutbah teaches that believers can seek Allah’s shade on the Day of Judgment by cultivating justice, worship, self-restraint, sincerity, generosity, mosque attachment, and private remembrance.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Describes the Day of Judgment through extreme heat, sweating, prolonged standing, and transformed earth.
- Introduces Allah’s shade for seven categories when no earthly shade exists.
- Highlights helping people in difficulty as a way Allah helps on Qiyamah.
- Explains justice as a responsibility in every role, especially within the family.
- Encourages young people to worship and resist temptation, using Yusuf as an example.
- Urges mosque attachment, secret sadaqah, and private remembrance of Allah.
In the khateeb's words
“The person who helps out his brother in difficulty, Allah will help him on the Day of Qiyamah.”
“So a person who is able to be just with his own family and he's fair with them, he doesn't favoritize and he's fair.”
“The person who does something for the sake of Allah , Allah makes, gives him something in return.”
“The person who gives secret sadaqa, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala on the day of qiyamah, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will shade him with this arsh.”
For the dinner table
The khateeb described the difficulty of the Day of Judgment and the hope of receiving shade under Allah’s Throne. He shared seven qualities connected with that shade: justice, worship during youth, attachment to the masjid, loving others for Allah’s sake, resisting a forbidden relationship, secret charity, and remembering Allah alone with tears. He explained that fairness begins with the people in our care, including our own families. Young people who worship Allah are not people who never make mistakes; they turn back to Him in repentance. He encouraged us to take practical steps by listening to someone in difficulty, giving a little charity privately, and attending the masjid.
- What could you do when you notice someone feeling left out or upset?
- What would sharing responsibilities fairly look like in our family?
- What is one kind thing you could do without telling anyone afterward?
