For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that our parents are a blessing from Allah and that treating them kindly is an important part of our faith. The khateeb gave special attention to mothers and the effort and sacrifice involved in carrying, raising, and caring for children. He encouraged us to show respect through both our words and our expressions, especially when we feel frustrated. He also urged us to express our love, thank our parents, and make dua for them. He explained that we should remain kind even when we cannot obey a request that goes against Allah's guidance. For parents who have died, he encouraged us to pray for them and become a source of ongoing good on their behalf.

  1. What is one thing a parent does for you that you would like to thank them for?
  2. How could you show frustration respectfully through your words and face?
  3. What small act of kindness could you do for a parent this week?
