For the dinner table

The khutbah teaches us that making dua is not just asking for something; it is turning to Allah with respect and sincerity. We can begin with repentance, Allah's name, praise, and blessings on the Prophet, then ask with confidence that Allah hears us. We should answer Allah's call by praying on time, keep our speech clean, and avoid backbiting and lying. When we feel weak or a prayer seems unanswered, we can trust that Allah may be giving us a blessing in a different way or saving it for the Hereafter. We can also ask one another to pray and remember the sick, the deceased, and the wider Muslim community together.

  1. What would you ask Allah for after first thanking Him and seeking forgiveness?
  2. How can we show humility when something we want does not happen right away?
  3. What is one way our family can keep its speech free from backbiting?
