Trust Allah while taking the means
“Part of iman is to ask for help.”
In one sentence
Drawing lessons from Surah Taha's account of Musa confronting Fir'aun, the believer must combine reliance on Allah with humbly seeking human help, and must face even tyrannical power with calm dignity and gentle speech.
The khutbah in 8 steps
- Introduction to Surah Taha as one of two surahs detailing Musa's story
- Lesson one: seeking help from others is part of iman, not weakness
- The Prophet's consultation before Uhud, elders advise negotiation, youth urge battle
- A lesson for leaders: genuinely empower youth instead of token volunteering
- Lesson two: balance reliance on Allah with taking the means (ayat plus human help)
- Lesson three: don't be intimidated by the powerful, those who disobey Allah ultimately lose
- Fir'aun's claim of divinity and the fate of tyrants
- Final lesson: speak gentle words (qawlan layyinan) even to Fir'aun; composure is true iman
Try this week

Take the means, see doctors, follow instructions, while trusting Allah with the outcome
Leaders and parents: give youth real responsibility and consult them, not just cleanup tasks
Youth: trust the judgment of parents and community leadership even when you disagree
Greet and check on the brother or sister sitting alone at the masjid
Stay composed and speak gently in conflicts; never 'tell someone off', even once
