Ramadan should shape the whole year

“The journey to Allah does not end with Ramadan; it begins with Ramadan.”

The khateeb, at 5:53

Ramadan should launch a year-round pattern of worship, especially prayer, Quran, fasting, charity, seeking acceptance, and maintaining kinship, rather than end religious commitment.

For the dinner table

Ramadan is not the end of our worship; it should help us build habits that continue through the year. The sermon encourages us to keep praying, read some Quran every day, fast six days in Shawwal, and continue giving charity, even if the amount is small. We should ask Allah to accept our Ramadan and help us remain steadfast. We should also keep family ties, responding to hurt with patience and kindness rather than returning harm. The goal is a steady relationship with Allah until the end of life.

  1. What is one good deed you can keep doing every day?
  2. How can we show kindness to family even when someone is unkind to us?
  3. What is one Ramadan habit you want to carry into Shawwal?
