For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught that caring for our neighbors is part of worship, not merely good manners. A neighbor has rights whether they are related to us, needy, Muslim, or from another faith, and the minimum is not to harm or annoy them. Small kindnesses such as smiling, sharing food, visiting the sick, and helping can open hearts and even become a means of guidance. The khateeb also encouraged us to value the character of a neighborhood when choosing a home. We should wish good for our neighbors and try to be a source of goodness for them.

  1. How can we show good character when a neighbor is difficult?
  2. What makes a neighborhood feel like a good place to live?
